Kate Thomas
Year 6
My name is Miss Kate Thomas and I have been teaching at Hannans Primary for six years now. I have previously taught Year 5/6 for five years, but am extremely fortunate to have a straight Year 6 class this year! I enjoy spending my spare time with friends and family, baking and taking my pet pug Pedro for a walk in the sunshine each day.
I believe in creating a safe and welcoming classroom where all children have the opportunity to succeed. Developing positive relationships with all students is key to teaching and helps to maintain high expectations. Being in Room 17 creates an opportunity for students to not only grow as successful learners, but to also grow as fine young men and women. I aim to continue to develop the Character Strengths that the students of Hannans Primary school have built over the years and want to ensure they are always striving for excellence. Being a teacher is very important to me, as I am shaping the minds of our future generations and I aim to inspire my class each and every day. Like Ann Lieberman once said, “Teachers emphasise with kids, respect them, and believe that each one has something special that can be built upon”. Every child is unique and should have an opportunity to succeed in anything that they put their mind too!
I look forward to an amazing year with such a fabulous group of Year 6 students. If you have any questions, please feel free to come in for a chat, send me a SeeSaw message or email me on kate.thomas@education.wa.edu.au
