I moved to Kalgoorlie to join the WA School of Mines in 2013, and I’ve gone from looking at a 2-year stint in town to not looking to leave anytime soon. I am currently Head of Metallurgical Engineering at the School and we are focused on areas that will have a positive impact on the region. My wife Ivana and I have two boys, the eldest currently in Year 1, and another little one due any day now.
The reason I’ve loved my time in Kal as much as I have is down to the community I’ve become a part of, the friendship and generosity that has made me want to give back wherever possible, by both being heavily involved in local sport and now as Chair of the HPS Board. Living in town also means I get to spend more time cooking (and eating) and being with my family, particularly the fur child.
I have been a board member since early 2020 and Chair since mid-2021 and I am proud to serve this wonderful school of ours.
